Apple Resonance

Apple Resonance

Apple Chan Resonance was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. A graduate of the University of the Philippines Diliman. She’s a board-certified licensed Interior Designer and a college professor prior to moving to Singapore to practice commercial and corporate interior design. She then moved to Los Angeles to continue practicing high-end residential interior design and was an associate member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

A shift happened when she met David King, founder of SLOLA (Seed Library of Los Angeles) during a seed-saving gathering and was instantly inspired. Much more led to an awakening when she enrolled in a class in Design Sustainability at the UCLA Extension which prompted Apple to embody the sustainable lifestyle through growing their own food from seed, building tiny houses and nature schooling her son in their homestead in Topanga Canyon.

She is a watercolor artist and author-illustrator of several books that promote awareness on vegetable gardening, seed-saving and eco-spirituality.

Both of her parents– paternal grandmother and maternal grandfather were from the Northern Regions in Ilocos and Abra. This cultural influence was strong that Apple grew up having the colorful Pinakbet and a related dish called dinengdeng as regular dishes to prepare in their household in her youth. Learning how to cook the pinakbet was one of the basic trainings growing up. And being the eldest child, this was her inspiration for creating her third book ‘Kami Ang Pinakbet’.

Apple lives in Big Bear, California and is a contributing wildlife conservation artist for ABUN (Artists and Biologists Unite for Nature) since 2019.
